Booker T. Washington, son of the late Sid and Fannie Washington, was born September 6, 1922 in Fayette, Mississippi.  Born fifth of six children, Booker and his siblings began their education in a one-room schoolhouse on Wagner\'s plantation.

At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Mount Israel Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member.  Later, Booker relocated to Los Angeles, California and became a member of First Goodwill Baptist Church pastored by L.D. Richardson (his grandson).

As a young man, Booker was united in Holy Matrimony to Hattie Mae Sims and this union was blessed with one daughter.  He later married Molly Clark and this union was blessed with five children.

For many years, Booker was employed at Boilermaker-Blacksmith, Incorporated under Local Union #92.  He supplemented his income by working part-time as a welder.  Having a passion for flowers, particularly roses, inspired Booker to retire and start his landscaping business.

In each of his many endeavors, Booker developed wonderful friendships which he treasured over the years.  He enjoyed socializing and talking about the good \'ole times,\" telling funny stories, and listening to Dodger games on the radio.

Booker is survived by his daughters, Mary, Antoinette, Diane, Teresa Barnes (surrogate daughter), his sons, Nathaniel, Booker Jr., and Percy, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
