Anna Clark-Jones was born on October 28, 1924, in Dekalb, Mississippi, to Wiley and Sadie Reed. Anna was the oldest of five children.

Anna accepted the Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Methodist Church in DeKalb, Mississippi. In 1939, Anna and her family moved to Hennessey, Oklahoma looking for a better standard of living. After living in Oklahoma for a few years, Anna met Wilson Romeo Kennedy, who later became her high school sweetheart. They married in 1943 and moved to California. To this union four children were born: Wilson Romeo Kennedy, Jr., Laura Ann Kennedy-Foster, Jennifer Marguerite Kennedy and Pamela Passion Kennedy-Ballou.

Anna became a faithful member of Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in Oakland, California in 1943. Over the next several decades she worked for the Del Monte Cannery in Emeryville, California and the French Art Cleaners in Oakland, California. On May 17, 1975, Anna married John Joseph Clark and later that same year, retired from the French Art Cleaners and relocated with John to Los Angeles, California with her youngest daughter, Pamela. Anna and John were happily married until his untimely death on March 13, 1983.

Anna was joined in Holy Matrimony with Carold Alfonzo Jones in 1987. They were happily married until his transition on Saturday, December 30, 2000.

Anna enjoyed working in her garden, reading the daily newspaper from cover to cover, working wordsearchpuzzles, and listening to jazz while cleaning and dancing! Whenever a Marvin Gaye, Al Green or the Electric Slide song played, you could always find Anna on the dance floor!

Anna was active over the years and took care of many relatives and friends who were no longer able to take care of themselves. For many years she was a member of the Hennessey, Oklahoma Social Club and was very active in participating on the annual picnic committee. Anna worked as the Sunshine Chairperson for the Langston University Alumni Association-Los Angeles Chapter. In 2012, Anna was honored and received an award at the Langston University Alumni Association Banquet.

Anna regularly attended Mississippiâs Meridian High School Reunion, which was held annually in various states. Anna enjoyed traveling to the various locations and reuniting with family and friends. In 2012, Anna was recognized as the oldest long-standing participating member of the Reunion. Anna was honored to receive the recognition even though she was a young and active 87-year-old at the time! For over 40 years, Anna faithfully attended the annual Meridian High School Reunion, but was unable to attend the reunion in 2015 due to illness. Even though Anna had recently been discharged from the hospital, she was trying to figure out a way to attend that 2015 reunion, which was a true testament as to how much Anna looked forward to and enjoyed attending those events.

Anna touched many, many lives through her loving spirit and big heart. She always had a smile on her face and genuinely cared about everyone she met. Whenever you visited Anna, she would make sure you had a good meal and a place to lay your head as though you were at âa home away from home.â

Anna departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 18, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, her sister, Helen Jean Cobbs and daughter, Laura Ann Kennedy-Foster.

She leaves many happy and loving memories to: her son, Wilson (Lynda) Kennedy; daughters: Jennifer Kennedy, Pamela (Mikell) Ballou; grandchildren: Karen Kennedy-Freeman (Michael); Mark Kennedy (Ruthie); Kim Kennedy; Lamar Thomas (Tasha); Jenay Peters; Kamelle Ballou; sister, Mamie Richardson; brothers, Jimmie Reed and Willie Reed (Paula); six great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; longtime relative/friend, John Reed; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other friends and loved ones, including beloved canines: Nemo, Brandi and Summer.
