Curtis Rogers Sr. was born on February 26, 1922, to Dennis and Menervia Rogers; he was the youngest of 5 siblings They all preceded him in death. The family lived on a small farm in Pittsburg, Texas.

Curtis grew up in a God-fearing home. He went to church at Union Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. As a young child, he played with his siblings and other children in the area. Curtis learned to help with chores around the farm and in the home. He attended Center Point School, where he learned to read and write at an early age. This gave is parents great pride.

Curtis joined the United States Navy on April 12, 1943; he proudly served his country.

Curtis married Frances, and to this union, 5 children were born. They later divorced, and he moved to California. After relocating he fathered 5 more children. After many years of freedom and traveling around he settled in Los Angeles. Even with all his children, a good job, a nice home, and many friends, there was still an emptiness he could not fill. On a Saturday afternoon, his friend Wilbur invited him to ride down to San Diego to visit Beverly, who happened to be Gwen\'s sister. Before they arrived Beverly invited Gwen to come over. While they were waiting on their dinner, Curtis spoke out to the Lod...\"The Lord is my Sheppard; I see what I want.\" Their friendship soon turned into true love. They were married within a year in Las Vegas. From this union, Curtis gained a new daughter, Shanea, and a happy, active grandson, Josiah. Their love was still strong after 13 years.

Curtis was a man who wore many hats.  A husband to his wife Gwen, a father, grandfather, and great-grandpa to the younger set. Curtis was a man who kept his word 90% of the time.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Gwen Rogers, his children: Rochell Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Minerva Rogers, Christell Rogers, Gilbert Rogers, Curtis Rogers Jr., Curtis Rogers, and Dennis Rogers; 23 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
