Doris J. Edmonds-Harris was born on September 23, 1946, in Chicago, IL, to Hillard Edmonds and Helen Dodd; she was the 1st of 2 children. Doris was also affectionately known as \"Jeannie.\"

After high school, she attended California State University, Dominguez Hills, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Doris accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. She attended St. Mark Missionary Baptist for 5 years under the leadership of Reverend Lovely Haynes.

Doris met and married Nathaniel Harris; there were no children born to this union. She worked at Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center for 13 years as a Patient Resource Worker.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, and fashion design. To know Jeannie was to love her. She loved family and family values. She was very honest if you sought her advice, no sugar, and she kept it real. She was old school! She nurtured friendships and relationships. She always remembered your birthday and special days with a card. She was very quiet and modest, always giving of her time and talents to others. She enjoyed cooking, and baking. Her passion was sewing; she loved making clothes, draperies, and reupholstering furniture.

Doris was preceded in death by her father Hillard Edmonds, aunts:Velva Benford, and Mildred Hightower, and grandmother Lucille
Dodd.

Those left to cherish her memories are mother, Helen Dodd, brothers: Garry McDonald, Hillard Edmonds Jr.; and a niece Miranda N. McDonald, and aunts: Carolyn Dodd, Christine Dodd, Ernestine Dodd, and Florence Smith. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
