Vergia Mae Sanders was born October 15, 1928, in Greenville, Alabama to Luecil Willis and Lillie B. Saucer; she was the 1st of 2 children.

Vergia received her education at Monroe County Training School in Beatrice, Alabama, and was on the Girls Basketball Team.

Vergia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Greenville, Alabama. She was a member of Zion Baptist Evangelistic Temple for 54 years under the leadership of Pastors\' Henson, Stafford, and Robinson.

While in high school, Vergia met John Thomas Sanders; they were married for 21 years. No children were born to this union, but Vergia did have a son, Thomas Edward McKee.

Vergia enjoyed reading, sewing, chatting with friends, and caring for her grandchildren. She was a kind, friendly, feisty, and very giving person. Her greatest attribute was her love of family and unwavering faith in God.

Those who preceded her in death were her father, Leucil Willis, mother Lillie Bell Willis, husband John Sanders, brother Stanley Willis, and grandson Tracy D. McKee.

She leaves to cherish her memory son Thomas (Kenisha) McKee, grandchildren: Steven (Tat Jana) McKee, La Tanya Woods, and Christopher McKee; great-grandchildren: Imani McKee, Dominique Jacobs, Kaleb McKee, Khalil McKee, Yahsaiah Curry, and Traci Curry.
