Debbie Deloris Owens left her earthly home on October 25, 2019, and is now peacefully at rest forever with her Heavenly Father. She was born April 18, 1956, in Los Angeles, CA to Roland Owens and Jackie Lee Smith; she was the second child of six siblings.

Debbie\'s humble beginnings started in Louisiana and eventually, California became her home. During her childhood, she went to Bret Hart Jr. High School and Fremont High School. Debbie then attended cosmetology school and became an entrepreneur owning her own salon called His and Hers. She also worked along side her mother as a clothing inventory specialist at Bronson\'s Clothing Manufacture. In her later years, Debbie became a CNA and had a natural ability to care for the elderly population. She was married to James Harper Sr. and from that union she was blessed to be the mother of three dynamic children.

Debbie accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1965. For over 20 years, she was a faithful member of Chapel of Peace O.N.T. Church, pastored by Senior Pastor Ervin Smith. She also branched out and served under the leadership of Pastor English for some time at Alpha and Omega Pentecostal Church. Debbie took great pride in being a choir member and usher, but her true passion was fulfilling her purpose as an outreach missionary. She was adamant about bringing people to Christ and spreading the gospel throughout the Los Angeles community. Debbie was a strong prayer warrior and knew just how to bring in the presence of God using her powerful voice and songs such as Glory Hallelujah, Fill Us and What you say about Jesus. To know Debbie (aka Deborah and the Black Elizabeth Taylor) was to know her deep love for the word of God, her singing, her cooking (blackberry cobbler, enchiladas casserole, and chili taco) and her humor.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother Jackie Lee Smith, sister Linda Smith and son Maurice Owens.

Debbie will be truly missed and leaves her devoted children: James Harper Jr., Deonta (Latrice) Harper; her grandchildren: Deonta Jr., James Jr., Mauryce L. Harper; father Roland Owens, siblings: Ronald (Mattie) Owens Sr., Myra McKissick, Julie Lowe, Roslyn Owens, Don Owens, Roland Owens Jr., Lisa Owens, and Osborn Kimble; goddaughter Myesha Webb, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
