On July 6, 1932, in Newellton, Louisiana a baby boy, Lewis \"Steve\" Thomas Douglas was born to the proud parents Governor and Pashion Douglas. He was the 16th of 18 children.

He received Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Steve worked in the paving industry, where he learned the craft from his brother Vernel. Eventually, he became very skillful at paving asphalt and laying concrete, which lead him to start his own business. Steve started his own company under the name of Douglas Asphalt and Paving. He was a hard worker; Steve worked for over 45 years. Steve enjoyed cooking and gardening. He loved his family and being a part of family gatherings.

On July 30, 2019, God called Steve home to rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Governor and Pashion Douglas, daughter Barbara, and 15 of his siblings.
