Solomon Martin was born February 16, 1936, to Samuel Martin and Jessie Martin in the city, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Rock Baptist Church in Leeds, Alabama.

Solomon attended Moton High School in Leeds, Alabama and was known by family and childhood friends as âFeet.â Solomon furthered his education attending Alabama State University.

After coming to CA, Solomon united with First United Methodist Church in Compton, CA. He was a member for over 50 years; and served on the Usher Board and the Trustee Board. Solomon also served his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged.

Solomon met Juanita Thomas; eventually they were united in Holy Matrimony, and to this union, two sons were born Eric P. and Victor L.

Solomon worked for Teledyne, and the Compton Unified School District. He loved family gatherings, watching the Lakers, and shopping at swap meets. He also collected movies on tapes.

Solomon was a lovable, kind, giving, and outgoing; he was no nonsense, strong, opinionated, and a knowledgeable man. He took his time about getting to the point, but when he did, you would be clear about what he meant. He stood tall in his beliefs. One of his favorite says was, ânobody tells me nothing,â and when you would visit him at his home, he would always say, âyou don\'t have to leave.â

Solomon was preceded in death by his siblings: Albert Lewis Martin, Essie Mae Martin, Willie Ivory Martin, and Gwendolyn.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 55 years Juanita Martin, sons: Eric P. (Lisa) Martin Sr., and Victor L. (Kim) Martin; brother Nathan Martin, and grandchildren: Eric P. Martin Jr., Anthony Brown, Tiffany Brown, Justin Martin, James Martin, Victoria Martin, Britnee Abrego, and Victor Martin Jr.; great-grandchildren: Semaj\' Haynesworth, Noah Richman, Jaylah Martin, and Luis Abrego. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
