Tandra Manilla Carruthers was born April 20, 1970, in Los Angeles, CA to Annie Lee Crowell and Lawrence Carruthers Jr. Tandra was the youngest of six children: Lawrence John III, Tammy, James, Shaneitha, and Eddie. Tandra was baptized at an early age.

Tandra attended 99th Street Elementary School, Bunche Jr. High School, Miller Willowbrook Jr. High School, and graduated from Compton High School. During her early years, she participated in Drill Team, Girl Scouts, and Track. Tandra furthered her education at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Tandra worked as a professional School Bus Driver, for Laidlaw Transit, and later for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Tandra united with Stephen Bennett and from this union a daughter was born, Icha Bennett.

Tandra was preceded in death by grandmother, Evezine Lewis, mother Annie Crowell, and brother Eddie Carruthers.

Tandra leaves to cherish her memory daughter Icha Bennett, husband Stephen Bennett, father Lawrence Carruthers Jr., brothers: James Love, and Lawrence John Carruthers III; sisters: Shaneitha, and Tammy Carruthers, aunts: Equilla, and Arlene Lewis; uncles: McKinley, and Donnell Lewis; and a host of relatives, and friends.
