Odessa Delores Wilkins was born, July 5, 1931, in Lillie, Louisiana to the proud parents of Dave Love and Mary E. Love. Odessa was educated in Lillie, Louisiana attending Fellowship High School.

Odessa met and married James Wilkins, the love of her life, they shared a loving marriage for over 53 years, until his passing. There were no children born to this union but Odessa did become a stepmother to James\' children, Tony and Janet.

Odessa accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Louisiana. Odessa was a faithful member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church for over 67 years. Odessa was very active in the Church, she was on the Usher Board, a Deaconess and President of the Mission Board for many years. Under the leadership of Elder J.M. Jenkins, Odessa was always there to lend a helping hand when the church needed her. As her health began to decline she was still participating when she could.

Odessa was a loving wife, stepmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She was a true Woman of God who served many years. She was always there if you needed to talk, cry, and definitely pray with. If there was anything she could do to help someone, she would. She was loved and adored by many, and she will truly be missed.

Odessa went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Mary Love, sisters: Rendell Huggins, Gladys Wilson, and Ruth Love; and her brother, Sylvester Love.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her stepchildren, Tony (Sherry) Wilkins, and Janet (Carl) Brown, and godchildren: Kayla Givens, LeeShell Dunn, and Charles âChuckyâ Wayne. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
