Bertha Lee Lewis was the second daughter given as a blessing from God to Reverend Robert and Mrs. Noble Lewis. She was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on May 13, 1937. At some point in her life, she started introducing herself as âBert.â This made calling her simple and short; however, it often caused some confusion because her older sister was already using the shortened version of her name, Bert. Whenever the two were together, and someone called out for Bert, both Bertha and Berthelma would answer.

Bert (that\'s Bertha Lee) grew up with an early awareness that God was the creator of everything and she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. Moreover, since her father was also her Pastor she was fed a regular diet of Spiritual food. Throughout her life, Bert was firmly aware of God\'s ever presence.

After graduation from Mandeville High School Bert (the second one) moved across the State line from the town of Texarkana, Arkansas to the big city of Texarkana, Texas. Actually, at that time they were both the same small-time community of a few stores for shopping and a place to pay utility bills.

As an adult, Bert developed a keen eye for business. In fact, she owned a very active after hour cafe and eatery. It became a very popular spot for big meals and small talk. Little did she know that the time in her Texarkana âChew and Chatâ joint would be an asset when she moved to Los Angeles and began her long career at Mattel\'s Toy Factory. Mostly everyone who had children and knew Bert also knew they could look forward to getting some great toys around Christmas time.

Bert was blessed with one birth-son, Ronnie, but she treated all children as if they were her very own special gifts of love from the heart of God. This is especially true in regards to her nephew, Anthony Williams who was Bertâs primary care provider during her final years of life.

Mrs. Bertha Lee Walker has gone to Heaven to join the host of family and friends who await her arrival. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Ronnie Lewis, daughter-in-law Sandra; sisters: Marie, Carri, Marva, Tillie and Esther; brothers: Robert Jr., Jimmie, Willie, Dickey and Charles. Bert also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Bertha Lee Walker was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
