Marvin, the second oldest of 10 siblings, was born March 4, 1951 to Sam and Marjorie Bunch. Born in downtown L.A. on 6th and Towne, the family moved to Watts in the early 1960s where Marvin attended Markham Junior High and went on to graduate from Jordan High School in 1969.

In the same year, he was drafted into the Army where his career spanned 15 years. Marvin specialized in the medical field. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he managed a check cashing store for a short time.

Marvin knew that his passion for helping others was in the healthcare field, so he decided to go back. Although the healthcare industry was a hard one, Marvin spent the rest of his nursing career working with the registry in Paramount, Downey, USC Medical and Long Beach Memorial hospitals. He leaves a legacy in those hospitals of how grateful his colleagues and patients were of his knowledge and skill in handling medical and emergency situations.

But as is well known in this industry, it began to take a toll on his own health and he retired in 2008.

Marvin loved talking politics and when he could get your ear, he would spend time giving his opinions on a variety of topics he loved to debate about.

Marvin\'s greatest joy was his family. Both daughters and grandchildren lived out of state, but he made sure he spoke to them often. He looked forward every week to speaking to several of his grandkids and inspiring them in their academic and athletic achievements. They were so proud of their grand-dad and always made sure he got an email with pictures of their awards and certificates.

The day before Memorial Day, Marvin took his last breath and slept peacefully away. Although he was much loved by his family and will be missed so very much, he is now in the restful arms of our Lord and Savior.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marjorie Bunch, siblings: Ralph Bunch, Linda Looper & Fannie Bunch.

Marvin leaves to cherish his loving memories, his companion and mate of 22 years, Lynette; his daughters: Shanta Houston and Marashi Bunche; siblings: Nancy Johnson, Bernetta Willard, Diane King, Penny Bunch, Samuel Bunch and Cyretha Bunch; grandchildren: Arianna Houston, Anila Houston, Alailah Houston, Aniyaha Bunche, Alanah Bunche, Arkerea Cuble, Alexus Cuble and Ayana Conway; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
