In Loving Memory of Pearlie Mae Dickey

January 30, 1922 - March 3, 2020

Pearlie Mae Dickey was born on January 30, 1922, to Dewey McCoy and Viola Nelson in Memphis, TN, she was the 3rd of 7 children. She left for HEAVEN on March 3, 2020, after 98 blessed years on this earth.

Raised in Memphis, Pearlie accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant all her life. She was married at a young age to Howard Cherry, and to that union, Louis Howard Martin, Jr. was born. Pearlie later married William Walls and moved to California around 1942. To that union, 4 children were born, Ruby, Herbert, Annette, and Larry.

It was in California where she later met the love of her life, Edward Dickey. They met in 1962 at Harbor General Hospital, where they both worked and retired from after 30 years of employment. Pearlie worked as a Nutritionist. On October 23, 1965, they married and remained married until Edward's death in 2011.

Pearlie lived in California until 2016, which is when she moved to Texas along with her daughter Annette and remained in Texas until her death. She lived a good life, had an excellent memory, and was full of history. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pearlie was able to enjoy family and her great-great-grandchild August the day before her passing.

Those who preceded her in death were her husband Edward Dickey, her parents, and all six of her siblings, her sons Herbert Walls, and Larry Walls, and her daughter Ruby Sheppherd.

Pearlie leaves behind a daughter Annette Lyons, and a son Louis Howard Martin, Jr., her grandchildren from Annette: Lynette, Karen, and Billi; from Ruby: Victor, Tony, Rodney, and Troy; from Larry: Antonio, Chanta‚, and Jared; from Herbert: Christopher, and Robin, from Louis: Louis III, Darrell, Terrance, Paula, Traci, Tony, Troy, Steven, Tyrone, James, and Chantrice; 30 plus great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild August Alani; she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
