In Loving Memory of Ricky Jones
October 24, 1959 - December 24, 2019
Ricky Jones Sr. was born to Matthew and Lucy Louise Jones on October 24, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. He received his education in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He attended Hooper Avenue Elementary School & Russell Elementary School, Charles Drew Middle School, and Fremont High School. After graduating from high school, he took up a trade to become a Machinist. Ricky's knowledge, skill set, and his professional abilities landed him a job at High Shear now known as LiSi Arrow Space Company. He was excellent at his job in constructing airplane parts and ensuring the machines were properly run. When special machines would break-down, the managers would say, "no one touch that machine, let's wait for Ricky." He was dedicated to his job, 2019 marked his 40th year with LiSi Arrow Space Company in Torrance.
He met and married Eunice Yvette Jones, and to this union, two sons were born, Ricky Jones Jr. and Antoine Jones. Ricky and Yvette remained good friends and demonstrated great support for each other. Ricky also has one beautiful daughter Pamela Simpson (of Savannah, Georgia), who he loved as well.
To know Ricky was to love him. He processed a deep love and compassion for others. He loved his family and would go over and beyond to help. He spoke well of all his children and wanted the best for them in life. He enjoyed spending time with his children and talking to them.
In 2017, Ricky was adopted into the family of God. He gave his life to the Lord and became a member of The Glorious Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Jessie Pearman. He was very dedicated to the church and served as an Usher. There was no job too big or small for him to do. He would often say, "brother-law, what do you need, I am here for you."
When Ricky and his brother Johnny, who lived in the same senior complex, had a special event, like a Christmas Party, Ricky would introduce everyone to his Pastor and say, "this is my Pastor" and he was very proud of it. Ricky would make sure Johnny had his breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
Ricky would often say to his sisters, "I get on my knees every night and pray for myself, my children and others to come to church and get to know God."
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his father Matthew Jones Jr., wife Eunice Yvette Jones, sons: Ricky Jones Jr., and Antoine Jones; daughter Pamela Simpson (Vonte Simpson), one beautiful granddaughter Ella Faith Jones, three brothers: Albert Jones (Billie Jones), Wilbert Jones, and Johnny Jones; three sisters: Doris Anderson (Derrick Anderson), Celestine Pearman (Jessie Pearman) and Tyeisha Franklin (Broderick Franklin II), goddaughter Martinique Gabourel and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, special children to him, friends, his work family, and his best friend Ronald "Ronnie" Welch.
Preceding him in death is his mother Lucy Louise Jones and a special friend known as "Lady Bug." Yes, Ricky will be missed by many; however, we are confident in this one thing, he is resting with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
