In Loving Memory of Billie Jewel Hull
May 22, 1946 - September 29, 2019
Billie Jewel Hull was born on May 22, 1946, to Annie McGrew-Hull and Harry Hull Sr. She was the seventh child born out of thirteen children. She graduated fromCentinela High School and started working at an early age.
She was known as a hard-working person and had mastered the craft of janitorial services which led her into a 30-year career at Compton Unified School District. Throughout her career, she mentored many children from the City of Compton and hired them for the summer youth programs. She also received many awards for outstanding achievements, including mentoring delinquent youth. In her retirement, she sought a different path and began working at Gee Gee's Daycare as a driver. She enjoyed the perks of the job, which was an annual trip to her favorite place on earth, LAS VEGAS! Bill's last work experience was at Murray's Hot Dog stand where she thrived as the co-attended and cultivated many new friendships.
Billie was a member of the Assembly Body of Christ Church of Los Angeles, CA; under the leadership of Pastor, Chapman Senior. She continued to have a strong relationship with God and has always put God first in her life.
"Bill the Thrill" as she was affectionately known in the community had a charismatic personality and vigor for life. Anyone that knew her will tell you she always spoke her truth. She was a person that you could count on in tough times, and the first person to call if your car broke down. There was never a time she would say no to helping someone, she may fuss the entire time, but she would get you what you needed.
The witty Billie Hull was full of clever humor and loved family gatherings where she was able to entertain guests and play her music. She never allowed gout to stop her from a good meal or a good drink. She also enjoyed watching her Cowboys play on Monday night football. Billie was a loved and cherished member of the family. Her amusing appeal and feisty sensibility will always be missed.
The family that preceded her in death are father Harry Hull, mother Annie Lee Hull, the eldest sister Helen Parson, and sister Veronica Faulks, brothers: Harry Lee Hull, Sherman Hull, Alvin Hull, James Hull, and Vernon Hull; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish the memories are Billieās two eldest brothers: Augustus Hull and sister-in-love Elise Hull, William Hull, and sister-in-love Beverly Hull; sisters: Joyce Ann Hull, Annie Hull-Davis and brother-in-love Will Davis, Patricia Hull Duplantier and brother-in-love Donald Duplantier and Anita Hull. She also leaves behind her adored only child April Murray and her son-in-love Frederick Murray, her four grandchildren: Monica Murray, Sydney Murray, Bryan Murray, and Christopher Murray. Billie will be greatly missed by her host of nieces and nephews, longtime friends, and colleagues.
