In Loving Memory of Rose Alexander Alexander

August 17, 1931 - September 2, 2019

Rose M. Alexander was born in Waco, Texas August 17, 1931, as 1 of 3 children to Eugene high school level. She later moved to Southern California where she met and married Robert Alexander in 1954. And through this union, they raised four children, Michael, Charles, Robin, and Anthony Alexander. To support her growing family, Rose put her skills to work; she became a working mom. First, she worked as a seamstress and then she started a career as a Clerk at the United States Postal Service, where she retired after over 25 years of distinguished service.

Rose was a God-fearing woman. Shortly after moving to California she joined the Church of the Living God, Temple Number 44 where she remained active for over 50 years. As a member, Rose contributed food and supplies for the church when needed. She was part of the Senior Choir, Womenās Work Department, Pastor's Anniversary Committee as Chairperson, and the Church Treasurer, and these are examples of her commitment to God's work.

Rose, also known as Mrs. A, was well respected in her community where she was known for her feisty and outgoing personality. For example, when her children were young, Rose served as a volunteer for the Compton American Little League at the same time when her husband was a coach. Additionally, Rose served as a playground guide and cafeteria worker in her community at Ralph J. Bunche Elementary School and hosted gatherings for neighbors and friends.

Some of Rose's favorite pastimes were baking her infamous sweet potato pies, cooking large meals for the holidays and most of all participating in church activities. She prided herself on her independence and speaking her mind.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander, parents Eugene Edwards and Ola Bell Whitaker, son Michael Alexander, mother-in-law, Edna C. Williams, sister-in-law Gearldine Brown and close friend Ernestine Armstrong Hall.

Those left to honor and cherish Roseās memory are her children: Charles Alexander, Robin Norman, and Anthony Alexander; her grandchildren: Erica Norman, Jason Alexander, Robin Williams, Robert Williams Jr., Kai Alexander, and Sage Alexander: great-grandchildren: Charles Martin Jr. "CJ," Kai Williams, and Noelle Davis; her siblings, Mattie Tucker, and George Glasko, close friend, Ida Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
