In Loving Memory of Louis J.  McKinney

October 29, 1957 - August 20, 2019

Louis James McKinney was born on October 29, 1957, in Los Angeles, California to Luther James McKinney and Charlene McKinney. Louis accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.

Louis attended Centennial High School and was very active on the swim team, the wrestling team, and the football team. He received his diploma in 1975.

On January 11, 1976, Louis married Michele Denise Emanuel. Louis and Michele were neighbors as children; they all played together. From this union two sons were born, Louis James McKinney Jr., and Anthony Paul McKinney. In 1984 they were blessed with a daughter to raise, their niece Nichole Renee Thompson.

The family joined Christian City in August of 1985, and served there for a few years; the family later joined Great Open Doors in March of 1994.

Louis worked for the City of Lakewood as a Landscaper. He worked for over 10 years before his accident.

Louis enjoyed his family and extended family around him, pulling out the grill every weekend (LOL), he enjoyed listening to music and reading his bible and books. Louis was a self-taught musician; he learned to play the keyboard and guitar. Louis was a good listener, and he also had a great sense of humor. Louis never complained about anything.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents Charlene McKinney and Luther McKinney, son Anthony Paul McKinney, sister Mary McKinney, and brother Lennard McKinney.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Michele McKinney, and children: Louis Jr., and Nichole; grandchildren Domonik, Anthony and Alek. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

We are going to miss you; we are not saying ‚Goodbye‚ but ‚see you later‚ We love you.
