In Loving Memory of Lurlean Battle

December 7, 1920 - July 13, 2019

Lurlean Battle was born on December 7, 1920, in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Rufus Allen and Adline Hart. Lurlean married the love of her life, Jesse Battle in 1941, and after 58 happy years of marriage, Jesse Battle passed away in 1999.

Lurlean worked as a head chef for Bullocks Department Store for 35 years until she retired. Lurlean was a member of Rodger Williams Baptist Church for over 65 years.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, a grandson Jeffrey Hampton Sr., and daughter-in-law Elaine Battle.

She leaves to morn, one daughter Mary Hampton Selma (Otis Harrell); one stepson Jesse Battle Jr., one ex son-in-law Jimmie Hampton, two granddaughters: Donna Hampton, and Trina McDowell; two step-granddaughters: Vicki Baker, and Varina Jordan; two great-granddaughters: Quinteza Hampton, and Mary McDowell; one great-grandson Jeffrey Hampton Jr., one step-great-grandson Richard Sherfield; two step-great-grandchildren: Shantell Baker, and Tramaine Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
