In Loving Memory of Leroy Richard Stephenson, III
February 28, 1970 - January 24, 2019
Leroy Richard Stephenson III was born on February 28, 1970, in Los Angeles, CA to Leroy R. Stephenson II and Winona Stephenson. Leroy became affectionately known as "Chicken, Richie, and Bruce Leroy."
Leroy attended West Vernon Elementary, Patrick Henry Jr. High, Dorsey High School, and West Los Angeles, Community College in Los Angeles, CA.
Leroy was the true meaning of a provider. He worked hard and took care of his family. Leroy loved life and lived every day as if it were his last. He loved his wife, children, grandson, family, extended family, and friends.
He enjoyed working out in the garage on Murfield, cracking jokes with his Murfield Boys, and working out at the gym. He loved shopping, and buying new cars, making sure his music system was just right, and the rims shining.
He also loved to party, and was the life of the party. He loved to travel with his wife "Living his best Life." He was definitely a true Rock Star.
As a young adult Leroy worked at Homebase in Inglewood, CA. This is where he met the love of his life, LaTanya, Leroy, and LaTanya eventually married. He later started his career with Ralphs
Distribution Center in Riverside, CA where he worked for 15 years.
Leroy did and conquered what he knew would be best. He moved his family from Los Angeles to Moreno Valley, CA where he purchased his first home. Leroy"s drive and passion for things in life made him work and hustle harder. Leroy became his own boss and started his own jumper business; he was the only jumper man that would leave his jumpers, tables, and chairs at people"s home for days at a time.
As an older adult, Leroy accepted and gave his life to Christ, and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Perris, CA. He later became a member at First Congressional Church in Riverside, CA.
On January 24, 2019, Leroy was given his wings, and was called home to be with the Lord. Those that preceded him in death were his niece, Tatiana Burkhardt, brother-in-law Reginald Sanford, and his uncle, Ray Baker.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 25 years LaTanya Sanford-Stephenson, children: Keandre, DeVonté, and Linden Stephenson; parents Leroy II and Winona Stephenson, grandson Alijah Stephenson, sisters: Keela and Solomi Stephenson, and Winona Bartley; brother Leron Stephenson, nephews Dwight Sharpe, and Julian Wyatt, father and mother-in-law Venson and Brenda Sanford, brothers-in-law Darrell and Dontay Sanford, goddaughter Lyric Lee, great-auntie Ester Green, extended family: Lois King, LaPara and Edward Jackson, and Emmanuel People. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
