In Loving Memory of Emily V. Marshall

April 15, 1936 - January 31, 2019

Emily Vicentia Jacobs was born on April 5, 1936, to the late Carolina Castro and Walter Jacobs, in the town of Punta Gorda in the Toledo District of Belize Central America.

Emily grew up with 3 sisters: Christina, Florine, and Gwendolyn (deceased); and 5 brothers: Gabino (deceased), Harold (deceased), Albert, Leonard, and Elmo.

Life for Emily and her siblings was very difficult after her father died. She became her mother's primary assistant in taking care of her younger siblings, which meant that they had limited access to formal education because their focus was on survival. Emily herself only had a few years of formal education. She attended Wesley Methodist Primary School in Punta Gorda.

Her intelligence was apparent by the fact that after she immigrated to the United States in 1970, she was able to work as a Home Health Attendant, obtain her driver's license, and even became a small-business owner when she opened her own Thrift Store. Emily was blessed with 5 beautiful children: Raymond Burke, Edwin Burke, Andrew Jones, Paulette Jones, and Ernest Jacobs (deceased).

Emily's main passion was traveling, partying, and reminiscing on old times; she loved good food, dancing, and a good joke.

She laughed easily and saw the funny side of life in most situations, but she was a no-nonsense person. She met and married Woodrow Marshall in 1979, they loved each other and spent time building memories through fine dining and traveling. They attended Mount Zion Baptist Church regularly. After the death of Woodrow "Millie" as she was loving called, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She took time out to acknowledge her Creator, and always had a daily word devotional nearby for her spiritual reflections. Her favorite scripture as Romans 8:31.

After a long bout with Diabetes, Emily was externally healed on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 9:40 a.m., and was called by her Heavenly Father to come home and rest after a fruitful life.

Emily leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Raymond, Edwin, Andrew, and Paulette; grandchildren: Julie, Mayen, Adrian, Fanina, Chrystal, and Edwin Burke Jr., Andrea and Aaron Jones, Alger and Kaliah Garbutt, Shemiah Ernest, and Jamelia Jacobs; 2 sisters: Christiana, and Florine, brothers: Albert, Leonard, and Elmo; her life long friends, and cousin Gilbert and Daphne Gordon who she respected very much; her loyal friend Myrna Gabourel, 40 plus great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
