Delores Gertrude Taylor was born on April 9, 1922, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to the parents of Ira Alphonso Springs and Fannie Victoria Matt Springs. She was the oldest of her two sisters, Yvonne, and Ira Etta. Both sisters preceded her in death.
Delores received Christ at an early age. She remained a devoted Christian all the days of her life. She graduated from Douglas High School, in Oklahoma City; and attended Prairie View A & M University, in Prairie View, Texas, where she studied Music and Business Administration.
In 1943, she moved to Los Angeles; where she met and married Barnett Taylor. Of this union was born their two daughters, Charlyse and Frances.
After 30 years of service with Los Angeles County Civil Service, Delores retired in June, 1978. For more than five decades, she played the organ and piano for various organizations, including Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, Faithful Central Baptist Church (Rev. Robinson, Pastor), Zion Temple Baptist Church (Rev. Henson, Pastor), and West Athens Church (Rev. Long, Pastor), When she wasn't working for Los Angeles County or playing the organ or piano for various churches and organizations, Delores sold Avon, Amway, and Catani Lingerie.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Frances Taylor Adams, two grandchildren, Anita Adams Boatwright (Isaiah) and Donyea Adams, Sr. (Monique); five great-grandchildren: Andrew Stricklen (Desiree), Christian Adams (Theresa), Timothy Adams, Donyea Adams, Jr., and Alexandria Adams; and two great-greatgranddaughters, Joslyn Drew Stricklen, and Madison Monroe Stricklen, and three nieces: Renee E. Bourgeois, Cecelia Schumake, and Crystal Taylor Thomas; and a host of family and friends.
