In Loving Memory of Dominic Onyebuchi Mba

April 24, 1965 - April 8, 2018

It is with a heavy heart, but with total submission to the Will of The Almighty God that I am encouraged to write about my immediate younger brother, Dominic Onyebuchi Mba. He was born on April 24, 1965, to Chief Dominic Nwoye (Ichie Ezekwesili) and Mrs. Grace Nwugo Mba of Iyi-Enu, Ogidi. He was the seventh child of the family and equally the last child of the seven.

He attended Community Central School Iyi-Enu, Ogidi where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1976. In 1977, he proceeded to Boy"s Secondary School Ogidi where he had his secondary education and after that sat for his West African School Certificate Examination (WAEC) in 1982. In 1983 he was brought into the United States of America by our most beloved brother, Dr. Emmanuel N. Mba to further his studies purely on full (100%) scholarship. He attended Southwest College in Los Angeles, CA and the University of Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA.

He got married to Kimberly his wife in the year 1985, and they both had their son, Dominic Jr., and their daughter, Tiffany. He worked at CVA for two years.

I will always remember our close relationship during our growing years. He was very hard working, dutiful and very kind. We were always there for each other and had this "big dream" about ourselves, which we pursued very vigorously. We had plans for him and his family to visit Nigeria this coming December, but God had a better plan. He is supreme, and His ways as our creator supersede every other plan.

I will always remember our last telephone discussions where he showed me a lot of support in spite of some negative information he was fed about me. His reaction and response to me after I narrated the whole episode to him was and I quote "Emeka, my brother, I am encouraged by your actions because I know what you stand for in terms of ethics, and I know you can never be easily pushed around, please move on with your life, but create a room for a ever that realizes his or her mistakes."

Today we mourn his departure, and he has equally moved on with his own life to the Great beyond. My prayer is that his painful exit will unite his family and mine stronger. I will hold strongly to his trust and belief in me. Dominic was preceded in death by his father, Chief Dominic Nwoye, and is survived by his wife, Kimberly Mba, son, Dominic Mba Jr., daughter, Tiffany Mba, mother, Grace Mba, brothers: Emeka Mba, Proff Chike Mba, Dr. Emmanuel Mba, and Mr. Bennett Mba, sisters: Eunice Udokwu, Caroline Onwuka, and Mrs. Gladys Oramasionwu; a godchild, Malik Villanueza, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

I will forever miss him, but I pray that the Almighty God who knows the best in everything would give us the fortitude to bear this irretrievable loss.
