In Loving Memory of Roosevelt Williams

April 27, 1921 - April 23, 2018

Roosevelt Williams was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on April 27, 1921, to the late Jerry Patrick Williams (1899) and Gertrude Grimble Williams (1889). He was the third of four children born from this union, the baby boy of his family. Roosevelt departed this life while at home in Moreno Valley, California on April 23, 2018. Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.

Roosevelt received his formal education in Rapides Parish in Alexandria, Louisiana"s public school system. On December 23, 1940, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Mildred Dorsey-Williams. Five children were born to this fruitful, loving union. For 65 years Roosevelt was married to Mildred, the love of his life, until her passing on January 18, 2006.

In 1943, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Williams moved to California, they resided in Los Angeles until June 2003, and in July of 2003, they moved to Moreno Valley, California to reside with their oldest daughter, Gertrude King, until they faded into the sunset.

As a young man, Roosevelt enlisted and served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged. He then worked for the Martin Marietta Aluminum Company in Torrance, California, until his retirement. Roosevelt enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
