In Loving Memory of Jimmie Lee Carrington

September 21, 1916 - April 28, 2018

Jimmie began her 101 glorious years of life on September 21, 1916, in the community of Spring Creek (Leon County) Texas. She was the fifth of twelve children born to Nara West and Jimmie Washington. Jimmie is known to her family by the name of "Bay" which was given to her by her father.

Jimmie attended Spring Creek Public Schools in the community of Spring Creek. Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Los Angeles, California in 1956, she became a member at Hayes Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Jimmie loved her church and church family and was very involved in the activities at the church. During her many years as a member, she served as an usher, stewardess, and volunteered her time to bag groceries for the needy.

Jimmie was an array of light with a kind spirit and enjoyed watching baseball on TV. She was no stranger to people she met. She was a giver and always provided assistance where needed. She loved her family unconditionally and was happy when her family succeeded in life. Jimmie always had a listening ear and was great at giving good advice. One of her favorite sayings was "Put your trust in the good Lord."

Jimmie was very good at keeping other"s life organized. She worked for many years in the domestic occupation performing a variety of household services.

Jimmie met her late husband Leroy in Spring Creek (Leon County) Texas, and they were married for over 50 wonderful years. Jimmie and Leroy enjoyed relaxing weekends in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city. During this union, Jimmie and Leroy"s life were blessed with a child, Naran Washington who they raised from the age of five days. Jimmie"s love for Naran was unmeasurable; they attended church, traveled, school functions, and other activities together up until Naran"s death in 1998.
