In Loving Memory of Willie Arthur Burr

July 31, 1931 - March 18, 2018

Willie Arthur Burr was born in West Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 31, 1931. He was the second of eight children born to Reverend Timothy and Eunice Burr. Willie grew up in a rural area on the outskirts of Tulsa for his childhood. After high school Willie entered the Marine Corps on 22 August 1950, fighting in the Korean War for the next three years.  He was honorably discharged on 12 August   1953 with the rank of Corporal.

Upon returning Willie worked at Douglass Aircraft in Torrance and at the same time enrolled at the Chouinard Art Institute where he learned art and fashion design. Working for the next few years at Douglass aircraft he finally decided to open up his own tailor shop in 1961. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James George, John, and one sister Louella. Willie also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
