In Loving Memory of Richard Virgil Payton

July 20, 1963 - February 26, 2018

Richard Virgil Payton was born in Los Angeles, California on July 20, 1963, to Espy and Essie Payton.  Richard was the third of four children born to this union. Richard received his education at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, CA.

Richard accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Reverend E.C. Johnson and was yet a current member under Pastor William Monroe Campbell II.

Richard grew up playing Basketball and Baseball at Sportsman Park (now Jesse Owens Park) in Los Angeles. Richard who we all knew as Virgil at home loved family gatherings, playing dominoes and watching TV. Richard was a very lovable, friendly and outgoing person. He would always tell you, "I love you" before he started his conversation with you.

On February 26, 2018, Richard was called home. Those who preceded him in death, were his, father Espy Payton and his brother, Marcus.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Essie L. Payton, one daughter, Monique Payton, and two sisters, Cynthia (Paul) Weathersby and Kimberly Payton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
